Research in Dance Education - Innovations in Arts Practice aims to inform, stimulate and promote the development of research in dance education and is relevant to both learners and teachers. The desire to improve the quality and provision of dance education through lively and critical debate, and the dissemination of research findings is uppermost. The journal sets out to include contributors from a wide and diverse community of researchers. This extends to all aspects of dance in education, providing opportunities for both experienced and less experienced researchers.
The editors invite papers and paper proposals addressing the role of technology in dance education. Issues/questions might include the following: what is the history and theory of technology in dance and dance education; in what ways has technology (i.e., computer-based, audio/video, telecommunications, motion capture) contributed to the teaching and learning of dance; how does one frame a ?pedagogy of dance technology? in the studio classroom; in what sense, today, is technology expanding or constraining dance practices; what are the historical and circumstantial reasons for the integration of technology in dance and dance education, and what militates against it; what are the institutional forces at work determining the integration of technology in dance and dance education; how can we map the field of technology in dance education practice and theory from contemporary methodological perspectives; where is dance technology located today on the map of creative and scholarly! pursuits in dance and dance education world-wide? Submissions on topics in technology in arts education, physical education, and sports science are also encouraged.
Deadline for papers is September 1, 2007
Contributions of ideally 5,000 to 8,000 words addressing any of these issues and focusing on the application and research of technology in dance education settings should be sent to:
