Today ‘the digital’ is ubiquitous across studies of history, heritage and culture of artifacts and places. State-of-the-art equipment for geophysics, laser scanning, and compositional analysis are now key tools for archaeologists. Data mapping is used by historians and digital technologies of all forms allow filmmakers, animators and photographers to record the past and the present in new ways. The same is true of other disciplines connected with the physical environment in which we live. Computational design in architecture and smart cities in urban planning theory are just two examples.

As the tools we use to create the future and explore or preserve the past merge and blur, this conferences asks educators and professionals from the disciplines of history, heritage, archaeology and conservation to consider how their work is changing as a result, and how it informs and is informed by the work of other fields.

DIGITAL HERITAGE STRAND:
Delegates submitting papers on digital art or the use of digital techniques in history, heritage and preservation will be considered for the Intellect Books series, “Mediated Cities’.

EDUCATION STRAND:
Delegates submitting papers related to teaching and learning will be considered for the Routledge book series: Focus on Pedagogy.
